Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our oats, gluten free standards, ordering, shipping, and more.

Do you use a Purity Protocol for your oats?

Yes.
At GFO, purity is the foundation of everything we do. We source our oats from dedicated growers who follow strict agricultural practices to minimize the risk of gluten contamination. Throughout harvesting, transportation, milling, and packaging, we maintain rigorous gluten testing, cleaning, segregation, and quality control procedures. Because oats are an agricultural product, it is not possible to completely eliminate the potential for unintended contamination. However, we take extensive measures to minimize this risk and test every production lot to verify that it meets our certified gluten-free standards.

Are your products allergen-free?

Yes.
Our facility processes only gluten-free oats and does not use any other ingredients in our production line. This helps minimize the risk of cross-contact with other food allergens.

Are your products free from the FDA’s Top 9 major food allergens?

Yes.

Our facility is dedicated to processing gluten-free oats and does not process or use any of the FDA’s nine major food allergens other than oats. We do not use peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, wheat, soy, fish, shellfish, or sesame in our production.

Are your oats glyphosate-free?

Yes.

GFO does not allow our growers to use glyphosate during the growing season. We also conduct periodic field inspections to verify compliance with our growing requirements.

Has the quality of your oats changed with the new packaging?

No.
Our new packaging reflects an updated look, but the quality and purity standards of our oats remain the same. We continue to follow our Purity Protocol practices and maintain the same high standards for quality and gluten-free purity.

Where is my package? Where can I find my tracking number?

You can use the tracking number to look up your shipment status online via the UPS, or USPS websites. Otherwise, If you need further assistance please send your order, or tracking number to trust@glutenfreeoats.com. We’d be happy to check the status of your shipment. Once we have that information, we can provide you with the latest tracking update and estimated delivery information.

What should I do if I receive a damaged or broken bag?

Please keep the damaged bag until we have completed our review, as we may need additional information or photos.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

How should I store my oats?

Store oats in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. After opening, reseal the bag tightly or transfer the oats to an airtight container to maintain freshness. When stored properly, our oats are best used by the “Best By” date printed on the package.

What does the “Best By” date mean? Can I eat oats after the “Best By” date?

The “Best By” date indicates the period when we expect our oats to maintain their best quality, including freshness, flavor, and texture. It is not an expiration
date. Oats may remain suitable for use after the “Best By” date when they have been stored properly in a cool, dry place and the package remains sealed and in good condition. However, quality may gradually change over time.

Before using oats past the “Best By” date, check the product for any unusual odor, discoloration, moisture, or signs of pests. If you have concerns about a specific product, please contact us at trust@glutenfreeoats.com.

Why is the shipping cost high?

Our facility is located in Powell, Wyoming, a rural area away from major transportation hubs such as Billings. Because of our location, shipping costs can be higher than those from larger cities. We work to keep shipping costs as reasonable as possible and appreciate your understanding.
